social impact projects
In partnership with other collaborators, The People’s Studio Practicum (PsP) engages and incubates projects and initiatives addressing society’s most critical issues. PsP particularly champions projects that:
focus on healing societal divisions
deconstruct social and spatial constructs that perpetuate a hierarchy of human value
unearth histories, narratives, or forgotten places for physical or digital preservation-all critical to providing a deeper past-to-present understanding of the interconnected socio-spatial dynamics that inform societal conditions today
considered “too risky” because of who is leading such projects or because such projects are pushing the boundaries of conventional approaches with the understanding there is a larger generational and societal cost if we do not take on higher risks
Each undertaking within the PsP framework serves as a platform for comprehensive research and design, providing participants with unique opportunities to contribute to impactful solutions.
Under the guidance of PsP, transdisciplinary teams are formed to actively support each project or initiative. For each project or initiative, visual mediums, such as booklets or digital formats, are created to convey information effectively and support fundraising or ongoing development. Crucially, all work generated also becomes part of a digital repository and collection infrastructure. This repository serves as a democratizing force, providing open access to information and promoting knowledge sharing while amplifying support for projects.
