A View From…

A View From section is a location-specific digital immersion of local narratives and sites developed in partnership with The Practice of Democracy and other local partnerships.

Each experience provides participants with an up close and personal connection to site specific topic and themes, content and stories that provide a deeper awareness to the local narratives and conditions shaping people and neighborhoods. Diverse themes like democracy, equity, justice, freedom, belonging are explored through how neighborhood tours. Led by a diverse array of local people, participants are introduced to art, landmarks, histories, neighborhood views, and the conditions that inform how each of us experience the places we live and navigate through the identified topics and themes. These narrators bring neighborhoods to life, sharing its history, context, and cultural significance.

This virtual experience allows you to navigate through mapped trails or immerse yourself in 360-degree views, making the discovery of new places and cultures both engaging and informative. The experience is enhanced by curated “vignettes” that present compact yet rich capsules of knowledge through text, images, audio, and diagrams. These vignettes invite quick glances or deep dives into the stories that have shaped the socio-spatial landscape of neighborhoods, providing a comprehensive understanding of each topic. Oral narratives add a personal and immersive layer, allowing you to listen to voices from the past and present, hear their stories, and connect with diverse perspectives and reflections of the highlighted topics and themes.

PsP partners with The Practice of Democracy to co-facilitate the ongoing research, oral narratives, spatial and cultural preservation using 3D technology, and a living archive of diverse community artifacts through local fellowships.
